DAY 1: TRANSFER TO THE TRAILHEAD AND HIKE TO ANGEL BASIN.
Today you will meet your guides and fellow travelers at our host hotel in Scottsdale. After brief introductions, we will load into our van and transfer to the Roger's Trough trail head where we will begin our backpacking trip. Your guide will distribute any rental gear and give a safety briefing and then we start our hike! The route into Angel Basin begins on an established undulating trail. There will be various creekbed crossings (some may be wet) so sturdy shoes or hiking boots are required. We'll take breaks along the way, finally arriving at our destination. We'll cruise into camp and relax around the campfire (when permitted) and talk about our day and what's in store for the next few days.
DAY 2: EXPLORING THE SALADO RUINS & HIKE
We'll wake to the sounds of song birds cutting through the slience. We'll enjoy coffee and breakfast as a group around the campfire before we set out on today's adventure - The Salado Ruins. These 600 year old ruins were left by a small family group as a reminder of our rich history. Tucked high in the cliff walls, the daring can scramble to see the structure up close. After our visit we'll pack up and hit the trail making it as far as we need to to secure an appropriate camp. This will be one of our shorter hiking days due to the exploration at the ruins
DAY 3: CONTINUE ACROSS THE RANGES
We'll arise to the sounds of silence as we're deep in the heart of the Superstitions. We'll relax around camp for a bit as we enjoy coffee and breakfast. We'll pack up at a leisurely pace because there's no need to hurry - we're going to be hiking most of the day anyway.
Note about itinerary changes: We do our best to operate each trip as closely as possible to the published itinerary, however there are sometimes forces outside of our control that could require us to make adjustments to the operations of a trip. Backpacking is a very challenging endeavor and each route will require a certain level of fitness, capability and in some cases, experience. Our staff is eager to work with you to put together the adventure that's best for you and your group.
